Line-up

The album's third, Turn Back, marked a return to the classic sextet style of the previous albums. It was a stronger, more constant effort with an edge that was more pronounced than Hydra. The more edgy sound of the album reflected the maturation of the group, with drummer Bobby Kimball's greater virtuosity on drums, and a more confident, mature vocal delivery from singer Joseph Williams. David Paich's keyboard work was as well more refined, more precise, and less derivative on previous recordings.
