UPVC Replacement Door Handles

The handles on your doors get worn out with time tilt and turn window handles require to be replaced. It is important to be able to match the dimensions of the handles that were previously used when replacing them.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever door handle is a modern handle that can be put in on new or replacement doors. This style of handle is available in various styles and finishes. A number of manufacturers make this handle including Avocet, ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.

The door handles made of uPVC/Composite are constructed of durable materials and are ideal for multi-point lock doors that require a heavy duty design. The handles are inline, and use the same screws and spindle to secure them. They can be easily mounted on any uPVC/Composite door.

The handle can be adjusted and angled to suit all users. The handle has been endurance tested to 200,000 cycles, this will ensure the quality of the finish and performance of the handle over time. The sprung lever is adjustable to fit a broad range of locks. This is particularly beneficial in doors with smaller victorian door handle frames where the cylinder is located further back. A shorter lever can be used for doors with a latch which can be operated with the thumb on the inside.

Lever Pad

The lever pad upvc handle differs from the lever handles found on most doors. These handle types are either operated by one spindle or two spindles, either inline or offset. They are typically used on UPVC doors with double glazed windows handles glazing. They are available in a variety of finishes & variations.

The handles are available in various finishes, including White, Chrome, and Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to corrosion. This provides the handle with a high performance and long-lasting durability for the purpose it was designed for.

All of the UPVC lever pad styles for handles are supplied with screws and a spindle which allow them to be put on a new or existing uPVC door. The backplate fixation centers of 211mm allow for a bigger handle, which is often a benefit when replacing a damaged or old multi-point door lock mechanism. These handle levers are also spring-loaded, which solves the issue of door handles sagging from their horizontal position when they are not in use.

When choosing the replacement UPVC handle and spindle, it is important to match the dimensions of the PZ of the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC door. This measurement is also known as the handle centre or 'cylinder centres and is an essential aspect of matching up the right handles.

Once you have the proper PZ size, you'll need to ensure that the handle lever pads and push pads are of a appropriate shape to accommodate the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compatible handles you require for your doors. They are usually rectangular or round in shape, with an internal lever and external push pad.

The majority of the UPVC Lever Pads we sell are sprung. This means that they can be reverted to a horizontal state when not in use, rather than hanging and possibly securing to the frame. This helps prevent the draughts and cold air from entering a home. You will also find that the majority of the UPVC handle lever pad style handles are hand-operated which allows you to place them on either side of the door.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are found on uPVC and other types of doors. The cylinder lock operates with a key that unlocks the cylinder's casing. This exposes pins that can be aligned with those in the lock and allow them to turn the camera that rotates, opening the door. Euro cylinders can be equipped with up to six pins, with external and internal doors typically having different levels of security.

The choice of cylinder is essential. It is based on the type of use your doors and handles will receive. For example, external doors should be fitted with a more secure cylinder while internal doors can be secured with a standard cylinder. Additionally, certain cylinders have extra features which can enhance security further, such as anti-drill and anti-bump characteristics.

A euro cylinder needs to be properly measured to ensure that it is the correct size for your door. The cylinder should be measured from the hole in the center of the fixing screw to each end of the cylinder including the thumb turn if you have one. If you are unable measure it with the lock in position, you can take it out of it. A cylinder that extends beyond the handle and escutcheon could be susceptible to attacks like lock snapping, so it is crucial that it is not too long.

Most newer cylinders have been constructed with anti-drill and bump resistance features built into their design. They are designed to decrease the risk of attack by causing the cylinder to rotate in an opposite direction. This can help deflect the attack, and keep your door safe.

There are cylinders that are designed to withstand snapping. This is a common occurrence on cylinders. A specific tool is used to break the lock's break line and then the front of the cylinder is snapped off. This is a quicker and easier way to gain access than through a multipoint locking Window handles system. It also leaves no evidence of the break-in which can hinder insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is situated within the base plate of your door handle. It offers a spring-loaded solution to return the multipoint lock handles to their resting position after usage. These handles used to have no spring, and would slide when the locking mechanism was removed. This simple feature is one of the best ways to correct this and it is also an effective way to keep your doors made of upvc from getting stuck in either closed or open position, as these aren't always easy to manually close by hand.

These spring cassettes were designed to be used with a spring multipoint lock. They won't work with handles that are not sprung and you'll have to cut a hole in your backplate in order for them to fit. (Please check the image for a technical diagram). They are a replacement for existing damaged or missing cassettes inside the door handle backplate of many kinds of uPVC doors. They are supplied in a single unit. They have a square-cut out that is able to accommodate an 8mm shaft.

These spring cassettes provide an excellent value solution to the problem of door handles that have become sagging. They are easy to fit and will prolong the lifespan of your uPVC doors.
