Three Wheeled Buggies

Three-wheeled buggies are ideal for walking around the neighborhood or jogging. Their compact design makes them easy to manoeuvre even in tight spaces.

Sturdy frame

The latest figures have been released revealing that the three-wheeled vehicle - that noughties symbol of more money than sanity is in a decline. They are being replaced by four-wheelers which can handle a wider range of terrain, yet still look swanky and being easy to push.

The general idea is that the bigger the wheels, the easier it will be for your buggy to deal with bumpy and rough pavements. The larger wheels on both the front and back makes it much easier to maneuver and more stable when walking downhill or on difficult terrain.

MFM reviewer Kath tested this buggy with an infant and a 3-year-old child and found it extremely robust. It was able to withstand cobbles, grass, and rough pavements as well as dirt tracks and kerbs. She said "it is sturdy to push and extremely solid when going over difficult terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable so need periodic pumping) come with suspension built-in, which was very comfortable for my children.

Another thing to think about is the size and shape. You'll want it to be big enough for your child's comfort. You will also require it to recline to allow them to lie flat. Some three-wheel buggies offer a lie-flat option that allows the child to face you, while other buggies only allow a parent-facing one.

Larger wheels

Larger wheels will give your buggy more stability when driving over rough terrain. This is perfect for off-road buggies. They also help you navigate the pushchair through tight spaces. Many three wheeled buggies have the front wheels that swivel to assist you in maneuvering around tight corners, while others are designed for running and come with fixed front wheels that lock to increase the speed and stability at which they can be pushed. This is also useful if you bump against the kerb or a tree. The front wheel will be lifted slightly to avoid hitting it.

Many 3 wheel stroller cheap wheeled pushchairs (go here) have air-filled tyres, which allows them to handle a wide range of terrains. They are also more flexible than 4 wheelers. They are also lighter. They are also more susceptible to punctures, so you'll require a repair kit and spare inner tubes on hand.

Buggies with larger wheels can be quite wide, and they may be a challenge to fit into narrow spaces. This could be problematic if you intend to are using it as a jogger or have to squeeze through narrow doorways while traveling. Many models have small folding options that let you remove the front wheels and store them in a more compact manner.

Easy to Manoeuvre

One of the primary benefits to a three-wheeled buggy is that it is much more maneuverable particularly with a child in the back. The way they are built ensures that the front wheels spin on a dime and are incredibly maneuverable which makes them perfect for difficult terrain like cobbles, parks, bumpy pavements and dirt tracks.

MFM reviewer Kath tried out a three-wheeler with her infant and toddler and stated: "The Terrain was a pleasure to maneuver over tough terrain, with the swivel front wheel particularly useful. I was also impressed by how well it coped with the kerbs, particularly when using the hand-operated brake. I found it to be extremely steady when I was driving downhill or over uneven terrain."

The only downside to this great maneuverability, is that the larger wheels of a 3 wheel parent facing pushchair-wheel buggy may make it difficult to fit into tight spaces. This is something to keep in mind when you live in a city. If this is a problem, a 4-wheeled buggy may be a better option for you.
