Replacement UPVC Door Handles

If you're replacing a window handle your handles or adding a little extra security you can find the right handle for your door. The Upvc handles are simple to install and will meet the minimum 92mm centre distance of multipoint locks.

The backplate fixing centre and the keyhole/lever dimensions are the most important measurements. Check these measurements against your existing measurements prior to placing an order.

Lever/Pad

Lever pad door handles consist of an elongated lever handle on one side and a paddle shaped handle on the other. They are designed to be used with key wind locks. However, they can be fitted to multipoint split spindle door locks.

It is essential that when selecting the new set of upvc lever pad handles, they match the PZ (distance from the handle spindle to the center of the hole of the cylinder) of your multipoint door locks. This is because these must be lined up for the doors to stay locked, whether you are viewing them from the inside or outside. You will need to remove your existing handles and dismantle the lock case if upgrading to dual spindle levers for your handle because this will require an additional split inline cylinder. You can purchase these separately. We have included a technical diagram in the images of each product.

After you have removed the screws holding the handle on your door, it is a good idea to loosen them and examine the mechanism to see the condition it is in. You may need to loosen the screws a bit more if they are not tight, and then you can take off the old aluminium window handles spindle and handle and install your new upvc handle window door handle. Before you screw the handle into the frame, it is recommended to make sure it is in the right position. You can do this by putting your finger into the gap between the frame of the door and the handle to ensure that it is in a level position.

Lever/Lever

The lever door handles are used to operate a multi-point lock with the Euro cylinder. They can be located on many double upvc doors, as well as on some aluminium and wooden doors. Once the handle has been positioned horizontally, you can reinstall the screws. Tighten them to ensure that the handle stays attached to the base plate. You may want to apply a threadlocking solution to the threads of the screw to increase grip and prevent them from loosing over time.

Drooping lever door handles can be caused by many factors. The most frequent cause is that the fixings are too tight, causing the lever bearing to pull up against the door. It could also be that the levers haven't been operated at a right angle, which compresses the latch mechanism and prevents it from fully springing into operation.

The most common reason for a sprung lever not working correctly is the spring not being in the correct position on the backplate. To determine whether the handle is back to horizontal, simply move it.

It is important to fix any loose door handles as soon as possible. This could lead to excessive wear on the screws and the handle may even fall off the base plate. It is also a good idea to tighten all screws that are loose on a regular basis to help to prevent them from loosening.

Lever/Snib
