There is a variety of 3 wheel stroller with bassinet-wheeled all-terrain pushchairs that provide a fantastic off road capability. They are great for those who reside in the countryside or go walking on uneven, rough terrain. They are often more robust and sturdy than a regular pushchair, and come with features such as large wheels that are puncture-proof to withstand the toughest of surfaces. They are often quite wide and can be difficult to maneuver through narrow spaces or in the aisles of shops.

Then there are the crossover models that are a great alternative to extreme off-road and high-street and are able to handle all terrains with large wheels and a great suspension, but they're designed in a typical pushchair style with reversible seats and the option of a full carrycot, so they can be used everyday. Brands like iCandy, Easywalker and Bugaboo have come up with some fantastic models to look at.

Wheels

If you reside in a rural location or take your child regularly for walks on rough terrain an all-terrain pushchair is essential. These pushchairs have larger wheels that are mounted on the back than traditional pushchairs, which enables them to deal with bumpy terrain better and provide an easier ride for your child. It's also suitable from birth and comes with a large sun canopy that extends and some great parent-friendly features like a simple brake pedal, adjustable handlebar and generously big basket.

Storage

There are some excellent all-terrain pushchairs that are ideal for parents who want to take their child off-road, but do not want to tackle Ben Nevis. They are the best of both. Choose a model that has good all-terrain capability, sturdy suspension, and large puncture-proof wheels. However, they are designed in a more traditional pushchair style with reversible seats and all carrycot options.

UPPAbaby's well-known Ridge all-terrain pushchair is an excellent example of this; it provides excellent suspension, an easy one-handed fold and a generous 10kg basket. If you plan to take your all-terrain stroller off road and on the road, you should consider air-filled tires instead of rubber grips. They will give you an easier ride on rough terrain, and make it easier to navigate in tight spaces. If you are planning to use your all-terrain pushchair for jogging, make sure that the front wheel can be rotated or has a quick release feature so it can lock in place for greater stability.
