The iRobot Roomba 980 is the latest model in the series of top-of-the-line robot vacuum cleaners that are a staple of any modern household. This model has seriously strong suction as well as an HEPA filter that'll aid anyone who is concerned about allergies. It also comes with a large battery that can clean for two hours and returns to its dock automatically when the bin is full.

Smart mapping is a different feature that assists in identifying areas in your home that require attention, and then creates a path for cleaning around them. We've seen this technology in action and it does a great job of maneuvering around toys that have been abandoned on the floor or furniture legs that stick out of the ground. It also has a camera that will snap the Roomba back to its original position when it starts to drift from its intended location.

iRobot also added the option of rolling rollers under the Roomba which do not have bristles, and are therefore more likely to withstand the tangles that previous models. These are also a little taller than older rollers and can better fit under beds and couches that are low, and they're designed to allow this model to move more easily across different flooring kinds.

The Roomba 980 is distinguished from other models of high-end quality due to its latest dirt detection feature, Julia Folk which uses a camera in order to detect dirt embedded. This is a nice improvement over the previous version that relied on the sensor-driven pseudorandom coverage technique to bounce around the room and clean everything at minimum three times from various angles.

The Roomba 980 performed well in our tests on carpets and hard floors. Its score on the low pile carpet was impressive, and it scored a high score on mid pile too. It did a good job getting rid of pet hair, however it struggled with the thick and [Redirect-302] long pet hair that was stuck together.

The Roomba 980 is still one of the best mop Only robot performing robots on our list, despite these minor limitations. It's also not as expensive as top-of the-line models. It has many of the features you would expect from a top model, but it doesn't have all the fancy apps or smart home integration that you'll find in other top models.

The iRobot Roomba is simple to set up and get running right away. After taking off the yellow bin insert and battery pull tab from the undercarriage, you simply plug it into a wall socket or its Home Base docking stations, press the "Clean button" and let it work. It will return to its dock when its battery is out or it's stuffed with debris, and it also has indicators at the top for when its bin is full, it's time to recharge or if its Wi-Fi signal has gone out.
