UPVC Replacement Door Handles

As time passes the handles on your doors will get worn out and will require replacement. When doing this it is important that the new changing window handles match the dimensions of the previous handle.

Inline Lever/Lever

The uPVC/Composite handles are made of tough materials and are perfect for multi-point lock doors that require a robust design. The handles are inline and work with the same spindle as well as screw fixings, so they can be easily incorporated into doors made of uPVC/Composite, either new or old.

The spring lever design allows the window handle upvc to be placed and angled to provide a comfortable grip and is suitable for all users. The handle has been tested to 200,000 cycles, this allows for the assurance of the quality of the finish and performance of the handle over time. The sprung lever is also adjustable to fit a wide range of locks. This is particularly useful for doors with narrower openings where the cylinder is further back from the door. A shorter lever can be used on doors with a latch which can be operated with the thumb on the inside.

Lever Pad

The lever pad upvc handle differs from the lever handles that are used on the majority of doors. These handle types can either operate from a single spindle (inline) or independently from each side by using two offset or inline spindles (pad). They are generally used on UPVC double glazing windows handles glazed doors. They come in a variety of styles and styles.

The handles have been tested to the minimum of 200k cycles and are available in several finishes including White, Silver, Chrome & Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and resistant to corrosion. This gives the handle an outstanding performance and durability for its intended purpose.

All of the UPVC lever pad designs are supplied with a spindle and screws which allow them to be fitted on any new or existing uPVC door. The backplate fixing centres of 211mm allow for a wider size handle that can often be a benefit when replacing a faulty or worn multi point door lock mechanism. The handle levers come with springs, which can solve the issue of door handles that sag out of their horizontal position when they are not being used.

When selecting a replacement UPVC handle and spindle it is important to match the PZ dimensions of both the multipoint lock and the uPVC door. This measurement can also be called 'handle centres or cylinder centres'. It is important for matching the correct handles.

Once you have decided on the proper PZ size and the correct PZ size, you must make sure that the lever and push pads are designed to fit the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles that you need for your door. They are typically round or square with an internal lever, and an external push pad.

The majority of the UPVC Lever Pads we sell are sprung. This means they will return to a horizontal position when not being used, rather than hanging and possibly sticking in the frame. This stops draughts from entering the property. The majority of UPVC lever pad style handles are available in left and right handed models which allows them to be placed on either side of the doors.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are found on uPVC and other types of doors. They work by using a key to unlock a cylinder that is then revealed with pins that can be aligned to those in the lock body and allow them to rotate the cam, thereby opening the door. Euro cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins with external and internal doors typically needing different levels of security.

The choice of the correct cylinder is vitally important; this is dependent on how your doors and handles are used. Doors that are external, for instance are required to be fitted with cylinders with greater security and doors inside can be secured using a standard cylinder. In addition, some cylinders have extra features which can enhance security, for instance anti-drill or anti-bump properties.

To make sure that the euro cylinder is the correct size for your door, it should be measured correctly. The cylinder should be measured from the central fixing screw hole to the other end of the cylinder, including the thumb turn if you have one. It is recommended to do this with the lock in place, but if this is not feasible, you can take it off and take it off to measure. A cylinder that extends beyond the handle and escutcheon might be susceptible to attacks like lock snapping, so it is crucial that it is not too long.

The design of the latest cylinders has anti-drilling and bump resistance features. These features are designed to minimize the risk of attack by forcing the cylinder to rotate in an opposite direction. This will help to deflect attacks and ensure your door is secure.

There are cylinders that have been made to withstand snapping. This is an increasingly common kind of attack on cylinders, where the break line inside the lock is targeted by a tool that is specially designed to snap off the front of the cylinder and allow the door to open. This is a faster and more convenient method of gaining access than using the use of a multipoint locking system. It also leaves no evidence of the break-in which could hinder insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is located inside the base of the Bifold Door Handles handle backplate, providing a spring solution and returning the multipoint lock handles back to their rest position after use. The handles were previously equipped with no spring and would drop when the locking mechanism was disengaged. The addition of this simple element is one of the best methods to correct this, and is an effective way to keep your doors made of upvc from becoming stuck in the open or closed position, as they aren't always easy to manually close by hand.

These spring cassettes were designed to be used with a spring multipoint locks. They are not compatible with handles that aren't sprung and you'll need to cut a hole in your backplate for them to fit. (Please check the image for a more detailed diagram).
