Line-up

Turn Back, the band's third studio album, was an ode to the classic sextet format, and a more consistent, stronger effort with a harder edge. Its edgier sound reflected the maturation of the group and included drummer Bobby Kimball's increased ability on the drums and an improved, mature vocal delivery from singer Joseph Williams. David Paich's work was more refined, sharper and less cloned on previous performances.

After touring to promote the album, the band recorded a live performance in Amsterdam which was released as a set of two CDs entitled Falling In Between Live on Eagle Records. A new studio album followed shortly after, and the band embarked on a long-distance tour in support of it.
