iRobot Combo Review

Combo is the first mop from iRobot and vacuum robot. It's also one of the most stylish. Its aluminum top piece brushed and iRobot logo are more sophisticated than the blaring designs of competitors.

You use the iRobot Home app to set up and guide your robot. The app gathers usage data and maps of your home that include obstacles and furniture. Maps and image data is only shared with irobot floor cleaner if you opt-in.

It's not a mop

The Combo irobot, a very intelligent mopping robot, takes all the capabilities of the fantastic best rated roomba vacuum J7+ and adds a reservoir of water onboard as well as a small pad for mopping, and a robot arm that can raise and lower the pad. It's not able to completely eliminate dried milk stains, for instance unless you've sent it out four or five times.

IRobot's specialized Braava Jet M6 mopping robot, that is available in combination with the J7 Plus, often for less than the combo Combo, fares much better at this and other tough jobs. It's even able to clean up ketchup and wine that has spilled but I'd suggest using it in the presence of liquid with a high sugar content.

It's an air vacuum

It's one of the more attractive robot vacuums. The top part is smooth and doesn't show fingerprints or dust as easily as some competitors. The tiny dustbin and water tank of this robot vacuum are easy to open, but they are not the most spacious. The Combo j7+ also has the smarts you are used to from iRobot with features like map and obstacle avoidance maps that work reliably and quickly. But it's the mopping arm that makes this model stand out in its class. It keeps the mop pad tucked away on top of the vacuum, but when it recognizes a surface that needs mopping it lowers the pad beneath and behind the robot. This is a major improvement over other robot vacuums which require you to take out mop pads from carpets or hard floors manually. You can also turn off the entire unit to mop.

It's a charging station
