One of my favorites is The Neverending Story by Michael Ende. It is more of a fantasy associated with book, but you will like it even for anyone who is not really into that style of book (such as myself). He just writes in the entertaining way, and are able to tell that he is using tale became media frenzy to make bigger points about world.
