Albums

Toto's discography includes 13 studio albums as well as 4 live albums. There are also compilations. In addition to releasing original music, Toto has also done work with other artists and on soundtracks for films. Toto has won numerous Grammy Awards for their work.

Before the formation of Toto, band members did session work for other musicians. David Paich, the son of session drummer Marty Paich, and Jeff Porcaro (the brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro and drummer Jeff Porcaro) all played on Boz Scaggs’ 1975 album Silk Degrees. The collaboration led to the formation of Toto in the year 1976.

Turn Back, Toto's third studio album, was criticized by critics for not having hit singles. In 1985, lead singer Fergie Frederiksen left the group and the group held auditions for a new frontman. Guitarist Steve Lukather was chosen, and the group recorded their 1986 album Fahrenheit.

In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by re-discovering old tapes and demos to release a special record called Toto XX. The album was well-received by fans, and Toto began an extensive tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.

Shem von Schröck took over Leland Sklar as drummer during the tour for the 40 Trips Around the Sun album. In 2017, Toto released the double-CD set Falling in Between. It included live recordings from the tour as well as an interview with the group.
