WoW Upgrades - The item upgrading Upgrader

Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by +3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless the item has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like the eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect model.

Recycle Points

The item level upgrade upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create Enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in all major cities, and can be accessed anytime to upgrade your gear. It is recommended to visit the upgrader once every few weeks, to keep your equipment up to date.

The cost of upgrades will be based on the current level of the item being upgraded however, they will always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment from other sources. For instance, upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points, while buying a similar item from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that are used to level up weapons and tools, armor and other items. They can be purchased through NPCs who sell upgrades to Item Level Upgrade owners in a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any tool, weapon, or armor. button, which will display an image of the item when it is upgraded in the event that the player has enough materials.

The cost of upgrading varies based on the item slot, and the current level of the item. For instance weapons cost more than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with some upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of the Flightstones or crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain amount it is able to be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currencies.

Many locations offer item upgraders, including the main Island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. In Season 3 the upgrade system was modified a bit, and some new features added. When a player has an upgrade to a particular level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading further items to the same level will be less expensive, even in the event that they are part of a different gear set.

Crests

Players can earn crests through finishing content at the appropriate level. This could mean doing outdoor activities or doing dungeons or raids in any difficulty to earn lower-tier gear or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons with a heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. The crests can later be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.

Using these new currencies isn't too difficult however, the system does introduce some changes to the overall upgrade process. For example, once an item reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change lets players upgrade their gear to the highest possible level on all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another important change is that crests have one usage, so it's important to make use of them in a responsible manner. For instance it's Best item upgrade to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the top gear you have available, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you're planning to make.
